A call to save our World!!!

The number of young people in the world has never been higher. Young people should not sit idly waiting for other people to act; they must act at the individual, family and community level. The UN Secretary General at the World Youth Day in August 2008 stated that if there is no drastic change in the way we live, the world will become a rather inhospitable place by the time the youth in 2008 will have reached his age.

According to the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, young people are best placed to adopt more environmentally friendly lifestyles. “Youth should therefore be given the opportunity to take an active part in decision making at local, national and global levels, “ he says.

IPPF AR offers this opportunity to young people through the Youth Action Movement (YAM) which is a platform for discussion, advocacy and action by young people in Africa. The diffi culty of the task, the diversity of the call to a
shared of a common vision is the only way of promoting a common agenda taking into account all local circumstances.Communication and education are available as are many other actions, prominently, the mobilization of youth and other partners, and regaining the trust of all public and private masses.
